Resolutions Into Results

Whether they be part of the hurried to-do list you scratch down every morning or listed in the serious 10-year plan you created last summer, goals are constantly being set, but are they being met? Life happens. Even more often, procrastination happens. In the end, goals that could have been life changing are often lost somewhere in the mix.

As an Early Accountability Coach, I want to equip you with 3 actionable steps that can help you leverage your goals into fruition.

  1. Planning to Succeed

You have to plan for the future success that you desire to achieve. In the early stages of a new endeavor, it’s important to gain clarity of your goal, determine why you desire the goal, and take the steps you believe are necessary to achieve your goal. Ask yourself these questions:

  • What is important to you?
  • How much time do you dedicate to things that are important to you?
  • What goals (long term and short term) would you like to achieve?
  1. Understanding How You Succeed

Understanding how you succeed starts with understanding what motivates you. Reflect on goals you have achieved and think about what was motivating you then. Was it recognition, money, status? Next, think about what you did to be successful (taking small steps, using detailed lists, etc.). How do you achieve your goals?

  1. Continuing to Succeed.

Put actions in place to keep you organized and aware of the goals that you have set. Are there certain people who help keep you accountable? Stay in contact with them. Are you surrounding yourself with things that help you stay accountable? Stick-It notes, planners, and daily reminders are great tools to provide assistance with accountability.

Tackling your goals can seem daunting, but it can be done. Use these steps to plan the work and then work the plan.
